I read both of them and they transcend anything I've ever seen in this genre. Paul writes a literary suspense thriller with police procedural elements and plenty of horror and gore - replete with quotes from Shakespeare details that display Paul's broad, cross-disciplinary knowledge. This writer does his research. He is a brilliant writer with a dark, sharp sense of humor and a heart full of compassion. If you think these novels are just about sewer dwellers and stabbings, look again! He is so far beyond writers in this genre/subgenre in terms of sophistication, elegance of phrase, command of dialogue and double entendre - his writing will leave you breathless for more. I hope the Rat series goes on and on. I won't call them soap operas ---just serials----about serial killers......hehehehehehehe
And of course, next time I comment, Paul, I will proofread. Correction: ...replete with quotes from Shakespeare and a myriad of obscure references that display Paul's broad, cross-disciplinary knowledge.....also, I should have used "author" once, instead of "writer" twice. Now - read my books!
